Soldier stabs man to death in Aba

A yet to be identified soldier reportedly stabbed a man to death at Owerri-Aba community, Ugwunagbo council area, Abia State. The soldier, suspected to be attached to the 144 Battalion, Asa, Ukwa West council area, had gone to make peace between two persons, who were fighting. However, the deceased, identified as Harmony, was said to have attacked the soldier and in the ensuing clash, the soldier allegedly stabbed him. •Soldiers An eyewitness told Vanguard that the deceased, Harmony, who owned a business centre in the area, had gone to a pool betting house to demand for the payment for a game he won. Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared that it will not be intimidated by politicians to undermine the 2019 general elections. Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) The Commission also declared its resolve to work closely with the Police to ensure that the elections are free, fair and credible. Speaking, yesterday, at a parley with political parties organised by the Benue State Police Command in Makurdi, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Benue State, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, promised that the umpire body would avail all the parties and their candidates a level playing field in the exercise. ABUJA—THE internal crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC, has taken a new dimension as the national legal adviser of the party, Babatunde Ogala, has accused Adams Oshiomhole of hijacking his office. In an internal memo dated November 6, and addressed to Oshiomhole, Ogala accused the national chairman of denigrating the party’s legal department. This development is coming three months to the general election and at a time the ruling party ought to focus on the campaigns which kicked off yesterday,  in line with the schedule of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. In the memo, Ogala said since he became the party’s legal adviser on June 25, his department had not been funded.
