Man kills brother for sleeping with his wife in Kwara

A herdsman identified as Iliasu Abubakar has been remanded in Oke-Kura Correctional Centre in Ilorin, after being arraigned before a Kwara State Magistrate Court.
The suspect who was arraigned before Magistrate Jumoke Bamigboye for culpable homicide reportedly confessed to killing his brother Isah Abubakar in Gwanara, Baruten Local Government area of the state for reportedly having an affair with his wife.
First Information Report (FIR) said Iliasu was arrested after Abubakar Umaru of Budo-Aiki Fulani camp who found Isah’s body with machete cuts reported the incident to the community police, after which it was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Ilorin for discreet investigation


Iliasu who was arrested after fleeing the state siad he warned his brother to stop the romantic affair with his wife several times but he refused. The murder suspect also said the deceased once claimed to be the father of the three-year-old baby his wife was nursing.
The herdsman was remanded in prison pending the determination of the case after police prosecutor Inspector Sanni Abdullahi, argued that the murder offence is not admissible for bail. The case was adjourned till November 26.
